A New Bundle of Joy

My friend Michele sent some pictures of her brand new niece through the email and I just had to scrap that georgous baby niece of hers. They haven't named the baby as of yet, but I'm sure she will have a beautiful name to match her beautiful face. Babies are such wonders of life.

Oops I Blogged Again

So I have done two layouts within a weeks time -- woot I wanna cookie!! I know Kelly has some in her cookie jar but she's not sharin' - Greedy eh? I shoulda got a cookie for being such an "Angel" of a patient for my surgeon on Tuesday, but guess he thought I was sweet enough without having a cookie -- hee hee. I don't know if it's the sedation that's makin me giddy or if it's lack of sleep tonight, either one, I'm just the normal ol' me.

The hubby takes care of a lady's property year round, and while he was out there a few days ago he had snapped a few pictures for me to use in my layouts. This one is taken at the bridge with the small creek that runs underneath it. It was a huge mess this Summer, but hubby got it all nice and cleaned up along the bed and now you can see the ground. He did a good job I thought.

Ok enough of my ramblings, it's time to turn in for the night. No Kelly, that don't mean calling up Rotor Rooter to fix those leaks -- lol. Have a good night.

This was taken at our family reunion 8/07. They were wanting to go outside and play but it was time to eat so mom and dad said no. I just loved this picture and how they were dreaming of going outside.

In Memory of Larry

This layout is done of my cousin Larry. The photos were taken two weeks prior to his passing away. We were at our family reunion and he waited around long enough to get to see everyone in the family for the last time. He passed away due to terminal caner at the age of 60.

CT LO - Family

We went to our yearly family reunion on Sunday, August 19th. Of course I just had to get more pictures of everyone. Pictures are of my nieces, Emmy, Abby, and Hanna. Boy on bottom left is my son Dakota and next to him is my husbands father Martin. There was so much good food there that I didn't eat for the rest of the day, I was just way too stuffed lol.
This kit is from Mel, she rawks with her kits don't ya think? I know I think so, just look how good it made my layout look, and all those fun colors!!! Gotta luv that! Stop by her store and pick up a copy to use, her link is below.

My First CT Layout - Funny Face

I applied for a CT/DT call last week. I got my email back letting me know that I had been accepted!!! I was overjoyed, excited, thrilled, just to say the least lol. I was about to jump out of my chair when I read that email, I even had to read it twice just to make sure that I was seeing clearly. I just couldn't believe that someone liked my work enough to let me be a designer with them, along with being their CT member too. So as soon as she sent me the first kit to work with I couldn't wait to get busy lol. This is the first one that I did for the CT. It's of my niece Abby. She has this thing where she likes to cross her eyes and make funny faces now and just had to have her picture taken with her doing that. I thought it made for a really cute and natural layout. Of course her Auntie Chris thinks her Abbykins is all that and no matter what face she makes, she will always be a doll baby to me.

ASDR Challenge 10 - Satisfaction

My Favorite Place

I enjoy going to the lake alot. It's the one place
I seem I be able to relax the most at.
It's so peaceful and calm there.
The only sounds you hear are the water, wind,
and the birds.I like to just sit and enjoy the sounds of nature
that you don't hear when you live in the city.

I take my family to this lake alot to take some pictures,
it makes for some very nice photos if you are into
the scenic things.

You can take a boat out onto the lake during certain
times that they have posted. If I had a boat, I would be
on the water all the time. I just love the nature and the water.
It smells so fresh and clean out at the lake and away from
the city life.

ASDR Challenge 8 - Girl Talk

Wording:
Girl TalkThe person I talk most with on the phone is Kelly.
We talk about scrappin' and our kids.
When I was a teen I used to always be on the phone talking
with all my friends that I hung out with at school.
We would mostly talk about boys or kids we didn't like.
Now that I am past the teen stages my phone conversations have changed.
It's not about boys or kids that I don't like anymore.
Now it's about the daily happenings in our life
or hobbies that we have.
I enjoy talking to Kelly, she always brings a smile to my face
when I'm having a bad day. If I'm not around online,
she's calling to make sure that I'm ok.
So it's not just about "Girl Talk", it's about Girl Friends too.
Thank you Kelly for all the great "Girl Talks"
and for always being a great friend.

I Love My Nieces to Pieces

Emmy, Abby, and Hanna, my special little nieces.

You always have such beautiful smiles on your faces
when you see me walk up the walk. You always come
running to me yelling Aunt Chris Aunt Chris, and then
I grab you all and put my arms around you and give
you all the biggest hug.
I've watched you grow from little bitty babies and
now two of you are in grade school already. Where did
the time go? You three girls will always hold a special

You are Aunt Chris's precious little nieces.

I love you bunches,

ASDR Challenge # 5 - Journaling

Journaling Reads:

The Things My Mother Passed Down to Me

My Mother always told me to believe in myself. She always believed in the things that I did,
and was always there to support me in any decisions that I made.
My Mother always said that if I was old enough to ask questions, that I was old
enough to know the truth. She told me to always be honest and never lie to myself
or to anyone else. My Mother would always have an open ear, and I
was always able to go to her with whatever problem I may have had.

I try and live out the things that my Mother has instilled in me each day of my life.
I have taught the same things to my children as well, so that they hold
the same values in life that I was brought up to believe in.

Now that I am a Mother I see the purpose of all the values that my Mother was
teaching me as I was growing up.

The reason I choose to remember this part of my life is that family values are a very
important part of my life. Values that I want my children to carry on
down to their children someday.

My Mother is no longer living, but her values for a family
will live on through me, and through my children.
Even through the ordeal of dying, my Mother remained a strong woman
who knew what she wanted for her and her family.
She was prepared for what was to come and she was preparing
her family as well, so that the pain of her death wouldn't
have to be faced alone.

Thank you Mom for all you have taught our family.

Wording on my letter to my son:

Goals
The goals that I have planned out for you are
to see you finish school and to go onto college
someday.I know that you have special needs, but that doesn't
mean you can't achieve the same goals I have planned for you.
I have faith in you, and I know how strong willed you are.
You have faced many challenges in your school years and have
remained strong and held your head up high.
If there's anyone that I would admire the most, that would
have to be you. There are times that some others just stare because
have certain ticks from your tourette's, and you
just smile at them and go on.
The love you have in your heart is amazing, and someday I hope
that you will find the perfect woman that deserves that kind
of love that I know you can give.
This is how I know that the goals that I have plannedfor you
isn't too far out of reach for you.
Just keep your head held up high my son, just as you have always done,
and you will achieve those goals without a doubt in my heart.
I love you,
Mom

Digiscrap Race Challenge # 3

This challenge was done for the digiscrap race.I did the layout of my cat Sassy. She is a very special part of our lives. Sassy had distemper when she was much smaller and had to be hospitalized for a week with iv treatments. The vet didn't think she would pull through it, he said most cats die when they get it, but Sassy had a very strong will to live. Once she seen me and I was able to hold her, she fought with all she had to get better. Amazingly she pulled through that hard time and is now one very healthy cat.

Saying on layout reads:
If I Had Three Wishes
I would not be posing for pictures. I would be out
chasing the birds outside, chasing the outside
cats away, and choosing my own food to eat.

Digiscrap Race Challenge #2

Week 1 of the digiscrap race challenges is done. My team partner Kelly did this really cool layout. The requirements for the layout were Doodle; Friendship; 2 photos; Red; Flower. This was a collaboration challenge, where we both had to contrabute to this challenge, so I did the scrapkit and Kelly did the layout using the kit that I had made for our challenge.

Digiscrap Race Challenge 1

This LO was done for the digiscrap race. The first challenge was to do something about a Museum and to use the word "amazing" in your layout. I chose the Indianapolis Children's Museum because we have been there alot of times. They have some awesome things to do, and have a huge carosel inside the building that the kids can ride on when they are there. That big colorful tower is all glass swirls, all made by hand, it's really neat in person.

Cousins

Today was our family reunion for my Mother's side of the family. My cousin Larry just found out in May that he has terminal cancer. It started out in his lungs, but has since spread throughout his body. The doctors has only given him 6 months to live. I was so glad to see that he was able to come to the reunion with his wife Darlene.

A Lot of Work on a Weekend

My computer was making alot of rukus this past weekend. I took it all apart and found alot of messy dust inside. I got out my can of air, and brushes and went to work. At first I couldn't get the case opened but then I had Joe come and get the clip loosened so I could get it open. To think I just cleaned it about 4 months ago, and then it's this dirty all over again that soon. Nope, my house isn't dirty so it must be because I smoke and then all that smoke collects inside the pc. It took me an hour to get all the dust out of the fans, I had to use those brushes to get in there and dig it all out. I'm so glad that job is done for a few months.

A Girls Day Out

I got tire of seeing my old colored nails so the hubby took me to "FingerPaints" and dropped me off so that I could get my nails redone. I decided on an "American" theme for them this time since it's a holiday. They are done in red with white tips, and silver & blue rhinestones on them. I normally have Charity do my nails but she was so booked up today that I had to have Tammy do them. She did a great job on them too. I've never had a pedicure so I think that's what I will have done on the next "Girls Day Out". No, I won't be scrappin my toes, that would make for an ugly layout lol.

History of Harley-Davidson

The history of Harley Davidson began in Milwaukee in 1903. The Indians were the first motorcycles, and in 1903 the Mitschell, Merkel, and Yale. The year 1912 was the further growth of the Harley-Davidson Company, and made it's first overseas sale which was made in Japan. In the year 1914 the sidecar was developed. In the 1920's there were changes to the Harley's. One such change was the teardrop shape gas tank, which is still known today. As you may well see I am a Harley Woman. I was never interested in them until I was with my husband, and then once I got on the back of his I was in love with the All American Harley Davidson. My husband's bike is a '75 Superglide. We haven't rode this year as there as been no time at all for us to get out on it. My dream was to ride by myself and just to know how in case of an emergency when I was with Joe. My dream came true when my Father-in-Law put me through the motorcycle safety course. I then went on to obtain my motorcycle endorsement and the dream became a reality for me. Here is a picture of my Father-in-Law on his bike

And a picture of my hubby on his bike

So this is why I chose the Harley-Davidson photos for my layout of Alexis Green's Kit.

Friendship

I did this layout with my friend's photo. This is Sue & Bill, they live in Pittsburgh, Pa. I first met Sue online about 9 years ago and we hit it off right from the start. We talk everyday and I call her on most weekends. We went to Sue & Bill's house for Thanksgiving last year and had a great time. She had so much food there at her house, I think she thought that she was feeding an Army of men or something lol. Of course there was alot of food left over. I am hoping that her and her family can make a trip to my house for a visit soon. We don't get to visit often because she lives over 400 miles from me.
Thank you for stopping by my blog to see what's happening.

Birthday Girl

My niece Abby turned 6 years old on Father's Day. We all gathered at my sister-in-law's house for a party/cookout that weekend. Abby sure had a huge smile on her face when she got her some "heelies" and a new baby alive doll. She is learning to read and read her birthday card to me, she done such a great job with her reading. I just can't believe how fast she is growing, seems just like yesturday I watched her come into this world. As you can tell, my nieces are my world, they are very special to me and I just love them to pieces.

Father's Day

Father's Day was a busy one for us. We went over to my sister-in-law's for a cookout & family gathering. This picture is of my husband Joe and his Dad Martin. Martin just lost his loving wife this year and I think he's dealing with it the best he can. We go and help him out all we can to lessen the burden on him. Martin is such a wonderful man, he's more like a Dad to me than just a Father-In-Law would be. Most people have terrible in-laws, but I can honestly say that I am one lucky person to have such beautiful and caring in-laws. When my mother passed away the only ones that I had for support were Joe's family. His mom took me right under her wing as did his dad. If it hadn't been for the two of them, I would have lost it long ago. I think Martin deserves a "Man of the year" award, he surely deserves it.

Kings Island

Good Morning Friends!!!
We used to go to Kings Island every year when I was growing up. We took our kids when they were little. My whole In-Law family went on that family trip, it was a lot of fun. We took a tent and the camper and stayed the whole weekend that year. I was on this one rollercoaster ride that was inside a building and when the man shut the protective bar my arm got stuck and was hanging on the outside. I yelled to let him know that I couldn't get my arm inside the ride but he didn't hear me because it was so loud in there. Then the ride took off and all I could do was pray that I didn't get my arm cut off. I was very lucky that nothing bad happened to my arm on that ride, but when I got off that ride my elbow was huge and all bruised. I couldn't move it for a few days, so when we got home I had it xrayed just to make sure that it wasn't broken, it was just bruised badly is what the doc said. I never went on another coaster ride since that happened.

Indiana Beach

This layout is of Indiana Beach in Montecello, Indiana. I live about 45 minutes away from there. We used to go every year, but we haven't been there in a few years. There's been alot of changes there since we have been there. They now have new coasters and a few more water rides. There are cabins that you can stay overnight while visiting the park, and if you are brave, they even have a campground where you can camp out with the nature.
I can no longer ride the rides at amusement parks due to my heart conditions, so my desire to even go has diminished away.
Thank you for stopping by to read my blog.

Nature Hunt

I did this LO for a challenge on DSO today. The hubby and I were coming back from my doctor's appointment and he had remembered this pretty waterfall that he had seen a few days ago. So I tell him take me home to get the camera so I can get some pics of it since the way he was talking it was just beautiful. We get there where the waterfall is at and it's just simply beautiful, and the sound of the water running was so relaxing. I didn't want to leave, I wanted to get on those rocks and have me a sit down. The waterfall is located at our local stone query (sp) right as you go inside the gates. I think they should have put it along side the road so that everyone could stop and see it. The hubby said he had to go there one day to get some stone with my dad for a job they were doing and that's when he had seen it. I'm glad he found it.

Kitty Dreams

This is my husband Joe trying to tell me not to take his picture, but as you can clearly see I did it anyway lol. My cat Sassy is napping on his lap. She's my special kitty. I baby her just like she is one of my kids. She went through a rough patch in her kitty years and was so strong willed that she made it through. She had distemper, it's been about 4 years ago now. We had brought in some little kittens that were born outside in a bush to help the mother care for them, well they were sick. That's how Sassy got sick, but luckily she had started on her shots and we caught it in time. She was in the kitty hospital for 7 days hooked up to an IV and on straight antibiotics. The vet said he didn't think she was going to make it so he told us to come and visit her one last time. I got there and seen her and how weak she was and I just bawled. I told her how much I loved her and that I wanted her to be strong and fight. We left the vets, went home and I sobbed some more thinking that I would never see my baby again. The next day the vet called me, I thought he was going to give me bad news, but instead he said you are not going to believe this, but Sassy has made a complete turn around and is wanting out of the cage and wants to eat. He said he's never seen a cat make it through distemper like she had and said she is a miracle cat. From that day on she continued to fight and got stronger and stronger. She went from 5 lbs. up to 12 lbs that she is now. She loves for me to rock her in the rocking chair and sing to her, she's just like a human child lol.
Thanks for reading if you got this far : )

Funny Face

Abby learned to make funny faces by crossing her eyes. We were at a cookout a few weeks ago and she came up to me and said "Look Aunt Chris what I can do". I thought that was just the cutest thing. Everytime she would cross her eyes her sister Emily would say you better not do that Abby, your eyes will get stuck that way. Her parents were telling her that she better not cross her eyes or they will stick that way and Emily picked up on it and now when Abby does it Emily has a fit.

Seeds Of Love

I seen this mini kit and I just thought it was beautiful. I used a photo from one of my awesome friends pictures. The oldest girl is Susie, her boyfriend Brook, and Susie's younger sister Cindy.
I met their mother online through a pen pal site about 8 years or so ago and we've been such great friends ever since. I've been to Sue's house twice since I have met her and always try to get there at least once a year. She's been to my place once and we had so much fun when she was here. No more purple dinosaurs for her lol.

This past year we got to celebrate Thanksgiving together, we had so much food and lots to take home. It was great getting to spend a holiday away from home for a change.

Now it's time for me to turn in now that I have my lo finished and posted, have a great weekend everyone.

Growing Up

Seems like only yesturday that my son was just a baby. Now he's sweet 16, will be 17 in November.
Cody is an ADHD child with a very sweet disposition and a wonderful personality. He's been staying the week with his Aunt Angel to help her around her house since she fell and broke her arm. She says he's a wonderful help to her. I miss him being home, but in the same time I am enjoying the peace and quiet and having some me time.

Just Me & My Daughter

My daughter and I went to one of her best friends wedding this past weekend, and my daughter took this picture of us in the van before we left. I just love this picture of her and I.

Courtney's friend Sarah was such a beautiful bride and looked stunning in her wedding gown. When Sarah walked down the isle with her father I cried, not sad tears but happy ones. Courtney looked at me and said "mom, why do you have tears in your eyes?" I had watched Sarah grow up and when you see a girl turn into a woman and then get married it just makes you wonder where all the time went. I was so happy for her that she found someone like Kain to love her, she's a wonderful person.

Freebie

I was playing around in Photoshop and thought I would give a try to making a template. I know it's not that great right now, but this is my first template so I'm pretty proud of it. I was bored and had all my emails done so I actually had some time to play for a change. Normally I don't have a whole lot of time to play and learn due to owning a list and running a couple other ones, sure keeps your mailbox busy that's for sure.

The hubby's thumb is healing up quite nicely. He had been working with a circular saw and had an accident. Now we all know that the saw won that battle and hubby got cut pretty bad. Rushed him out to the ER and sat in the waiting room an hour before they said hum, I think we need to take you back and put some stitches in that for you..... duhh ya think??

Once he was finally back in the ER room the nurse just couldn't believe he still had his thumb since the injury was so severe. So she asks us for permission for the nursing students to come and watch how the doctor takes care of it, of course I said I didn't mind if hubby didn't. I didn't think there was going to be a roomfull of them either lol. I turned around and saw 6 nursing students all jam packed into this tiny ER room. I should have filmed it and put it on the daily news, then maybe someone would feel sorry for hubby and let us win the Lottery.... Hummm what I could do with all that money.

I hope you've enjoyed my tale about our trip to the "ER" room, it was quite an adventure. Now onto your freebie template. Be sure to leave me some "luv" if you like what you see on my blog.

Smiles

Keep Smiling
If at times you feel you want to cryAnd life seems such a trialAbove the clouds
there's a bright blue skySo make your tears a smile.
As you travel on life's wayWith its many ups and downs
Remember its quite true to sayOne smile is worth a dozen frowns.
Among the worlds expensive things A smile is very cheap
And when you give a smile away,
You get one back to keep.
Happiness comes at times to all
But sadness comes unbidden And sometimes
a few tears must fallAmong the laughter hidden.
So when friends have sadness on their face
And troubles round them piled
The world will seem a better placeAnd all because you smiled.

Troubling Day

I was sitting here at the computer today just trying to figure out what I wanted to do with this mini kit that I downloaded when all of a sudden I hear my husband yelling for me. I get the the living room and there he is with this rag around his hand and blood going everywhere. I totally flip because I knew he had been working on some wood in the garage with his circular saw so I knew it would be bad. He looks pale so I tell him to sit down and let me have a look....let's just say I looked and said get a wet rag and let's get to the ER and fast. We get there and don't ya know we had to wait an hour just to get back to see the doctor! I was NOT a happy person. Finally get to see the doctor and I thought the doctor was going to fall on the floor himself! He said he didn't know how the hubby still had his thumb attached with the way it looked. He said he would sew it the best he could, but he wasn't going to promise that he could close it like it should be because it was pretty chewed up. It took 7 stitches just in one area, and the other part, well he couldn't close it because there was no skin whatsoever there. The doctor said that his biggest threat is infection right now, so he has to keep it exceptionally clean. On top of all this I am going on no sleep at all, did I say NO sleep??? Yep, I'm seeing double by now and wanting to finish up this LO that I had started before all this excitment this morning. I finally finished it and now I'm ready for a nap. I think it turned out really awesome. I just love Alexis' kits and sketches, they are da bomb. Here's what I did with it.

Sisters Three

I found this really cute cork board and just had to use it. My little nieces are such "hams", they love their pictures taken, and I love taking them too.

Cousins

This is my daughter Courtney and my niece Emily. Courtney is 19 years old and Emily is 7 years old. We went to another family gathering this Saturday and the little ones were glad to see their cousin Courtney. I just had to get a snapshot of them together.

Cool Dude

This is my son Dakota Le'Andrew. He is 16 years old. Dakota is a special needs child so he is always very demanding. He always wants to be like "others" when it comes to wearing his hat the wrong way. Dakota also has a great sense of humor and is always looking for a way to make others smile or laugh.

Mother's Are Special

My Friend Sue sent me some pictures of her dear Mother over the Mother's Day Holiday and I just had to use her pictures for my layout. Her mother is 84 years young and still puts on her own make-up to look so pretty. She's been married to her husband for 60 years! Now that's true love. Her dear husband Sully is 87 years old and is in the nursing home due to him being so ill. I think Sue's mother is just beautiful for her age and her skin, well I sure hope I look that young at her age. Thank you Sue for allowing me the use of your photos in my layouts.
